The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee is a non-profit organization that provides after-school programs, summer camps, and other educational opportunities for youth in the Greater Milwaukee area. Founded in 1887, the organization aims to inspire and enable young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. With more than 45 locations throughout Milwaukee, the Boys & Girls Club serves over 40,000 youth annually. Programs focus on academic achievement, character and leadership development, healthy lifestyles, and the arts. Activities include tutoring, mentoring, sports leagues, cooking classes, and music and dance lessons, among others. The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee is funded through multiple sources, including individual and corporate donations, grants, and partnerships with government agencies and other organizations. The organization has also received national recognition for its impact on youth, including being named a recipient of the National Youth of the Year Award. The organization is governed by a board of directors and led by President and CEO Vincent Lyles. Its mission is to empower young people to achieve academic and personal success, while promoting positive values and a commitment to community service.
