Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School (CGPS) is a private, coeducational day school located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City. Founded in 1764, it is one of the oldest independent schools in the United States. The school originated as a boys’ preparatory school affiliated with Columbia University, then known as King’s College, but became fully independent in 1941.
