Credit Union 1 Educational Development Association (CU1 EDA) is a non-profit organization established in 2004 as an extension of Credit Union 1, one of Alaska’s largest credit unions. The organization’s primary mission is to promote and support educational opportunities for Alaskans in order to further the development of the state’s communities and economy. CU1 EDA provides grants and scholarships to students pursuing higher education or vocational training, as well as to teachers and educational institutions seeking funding for innovative programs and curriculum. Since its inception, the organization has awarded over $1 million in scholarships and grants to eligible applicants. CU1 EDA also organizes various educational events and initiatives throughout Alaska, such as the annual “Teach ME” conference for educators, financial literacy programs for students, and public forums on important issues facing the state’s economy and workforce. The organization is governed by a board of directors, who are volunteers from Credit Union 1’s membership. Funding for CU1 EDA’s programs and initiatives comes from donations and support from Credit Union 1, as well as fundraising efforts and community partnerships. Overall, Credit Union 1 Educational Development Association aims to provide educational opportunities and resources to empower Alaskans to achieve their goals and contribute to the growth and prosperity of their communities.
