Denton County Electric Cooperative (DCEC) is a non-profit electric utility company serving members in ten counties across north Texas, USA. Founded in 1937, DCEC has its headquarters in Corinth, Texas. The cooperative is owned by its members, who elect a board of directors to oversee operations and decision-making. DCEC provides electricity to over 37,000 meters and maintains more than 2,000 miles of distribution lines. The cooperative’s mission is to provide affordable, reliable, and safe electric power to its members while promoting and supporting the community. DCEC offers several programs to help members manage their energy usage and costs, including energy audits, rebates for energy-efficient upgrades and appliances, and flexible payment options. DCEC is also committed to renewable energy and has invested in several solar and wind projects, including a 1 MW solar array and a 100 kW wind turbine. In 2020, DCEC became a member of the Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC), which provides additional resources and services to DCEC members. Through its community involvement, DCEC supports local schools, emergency services, and charitable organizations. DCEC’s commitment to its members and the community has earned the cooperative several national awards, including recognition for its safety program, customer service, and community service.
