Empire Kosher Poultry is an American poultry producer and distributor specializing in kosher chicken and turkey products. Founded in 1938 in Liberty, New York, the company later relocated its main operations to Mifflintown, Pennsylvania. It is currently the largest kosher poultry producer in the United States. The company maintains strict adherence to both kosher dietary laws and USDA regulations in its production processes. Each bird is individually examined by trained rabbinical inspectors (shochtim) to ensure compliance with Jewish dietary laws. Empire Kosher’s facility processes approximately 240,000 chickens and 27,000 turkeys per week. In 2015, Empire Kosher was acquired by The Hain Celestial Group, a natural and organic food company. The acquisition helped expand Empire’s distribution network and product offerings. The company’s product line includes fresh and frozen chicken and turkey, deli meats, hot dogs, and other prepared foods. Empire Kosher has been recognized for its animal welfare practices and was one of the first poultry producers to eliminate the use of antibiotics in its operations.
