The Golden Key International Honour Society is a non-profit educational organization that recognizes and encourages academic achievement and excellence among college and university students worldwide. Founded on November 29, 1977, by a group of undergraduate students at Georgia State University, the organization aims to provide lifetime benefits through various programs and opportunities. Membership to the Golden Key Society is by invitation only and extended to the top 15% of college and university students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership potential, and community service. As of 2021, the organization has more than 2 million members from over 400 universities and colleges in eight countries, including Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, The Bahamas, and the United States. The Society offers members access to scholarships, leadership development programs, career opportunities and networking events. Moreover, this organization works to support humanitarian initiatives and charitable causes through various philanthropic programs and volunteer efforts. For instance, the Golden Key’s Global Service Initiative combines international travel, experiential learning, and service-learning to foster social responsibility and leadership among members.
