The Institute for Community Living (ICL) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare and social support services to individuals and families living with mental and developmental disabilities. Established in 1986, ICL has a long history of delivering evidence-based mental health and developmental disability services to residents of New York City. Today, ICL has more than 100 programs throughout the five boroughs of New York City, serving over 10,000 individuals and families annually. ICL provides a wide range of services that include psychiatric rehabilitation, medication management, crisis support, vocational training, family support, mental health counseling, and housing assistance. The organization’s goal is to help individuals and families reach their full potential and achieve independence through community-based care. In addition, ICL is driven by its commitment to cultural competence and diversity, with programs that serve a broad range of ethnic, racial, and cultural communities. ICL has a highly trained and experienced staff that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, case managers, vocational counselors, nurses, and peer specialists. The organization also works with a broad range of community partners, including hospitals, schools, advocacy groups, and mental health agencies, to provide the most comprehensive care possible to its clients.
