Lompoc Unified School District (LUSD) is a public school district located in Lompoc, California. With a mission to provide quality education for all its students, LUSD operates 11 schools serving over 9,000 students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. The district was established in 1965 and covers an area of approximately 435 square miles, including the cities of Lompoc and Vandenberg Village as well as the unincorporated areas of Mission Hills, Vandenberg Air Force Base, and Buellton. LUSD is overseen by a five-member Board of Education, with the superintendent serving as the district’s chief executive officer. The district employs over 900 full-time and part-time staff members, including educators, counselors, support staff, and administrators. LUSD is committed to providing a rigorous and challenging academic program that prepares students to compete successfully in a global society. The district offers a wide range of programs and services to meet the diverse needs of its students including special education, English Language Learners, and gifted and talented education programs.
