The National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) is an independent, non-profit organization chartered by the United States Congress in 1967 to assist government leaders in building more effective, efficient, accountable, and transparent organizations. Established under Public Law 98-257, the Academy provides expert advice to government leaders in addressing current and emerging management challenges. The organization consists of over 850 Fellows, including former cabinet officers, members of Congress, governors, mayors, state legislators, and distinguished scholars, who guide and inform the Academy’s work. Fellows are elected by their peers and bring expertise in public management and organizational leadership. NAPA conducts management studies, organizational assessments, and technical assistance for federal, state, and local governments.
