The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) is a non-profit organization based in Columbus, Ohio and is responsible for regulating and managing high school athletics in the state of Ohio. Founded in 1907, the OHSAA provides its member schools with rules, regulations, and guidelines to follow for over 25 sanctioned sports in order to ensure fair play and competition. The OHSAA oversees and coordinates state championships in various sports, such as football, cross country, and basketball, among others. These championships draw large crowds of sports enthusiasts and provide a platform for high school athletes to showcase their skills, culminating in a high-stakes, season-ending event. The OHSAA also administers several programs, including the Scholar-Athlete program, which honors student-athletes who have maintained good grades throughout their high school career. Additionally, the OHSAA provides guidance to its member schools on various issues such as eligibility requirements, gender equity, and sportsmanship. The OHSAA is governed by a Board of Directors, and its activities are funded by revenues from gate receipts generated by its championships, as well as private donations and sponsorships. With over 800 member high schools across the state of Ohio, the OHSAA continues to serve as a leading advocate for high school athletics and promote a healthy, competitive spirit among its student-athletes.
