Penn Tower Hotel was a 20-story hotel building located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, adjacent to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). Originally opened in 1974, the building served as both a hotel and medical office space, primarily catering to patients, families, and medical professionals associated with the nearby medical facilities. The structure was notable for its modernist architectural design and its strategic location within Philadelphia’s medical district. The hotel contained approximately 300 rooms and was connected to HUP via an enclosed pedestrian bridge, making it convenient for hospital visitors and medical staff. In 2015, the Penn Tower Hotel was demolished as part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System’s expansion plans. The site was cleared to make way for the construction of the Pavilion, a new state-of-the-art hospital facility.
