The Special School District of St. Louis County (SSD) is a public school district in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. Established in 1957, SSD serves students with disabilities living in 22 school districts in St. Louis county. The district provides specialized education and related services to more than 26,000 students. SSD employs more than 2,500 staff members, including teachers, support staff, and administrators. The SSD offers a wide range of special education programs, including early childhood, elementary and secondary education programs, and vocational and technical education. The district also provides support services, such as speech and language therapy, occupational and physical therapy, counseling, and transportation. The SSD operates schools in several locations throughout St. Louis County, including the North Technical High School in Florissant, the South Technical High School in Sunset Hills, and the Neuwoehner High School in Pacific. The district also operates a School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, which serves students from across the state of Missouri.
