The firm operated independently until 2020, when it merged with Pepper Hamilton to form Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP (commonly known as Troutman Pepper). Prior to the merger, Troutman Sanders had approximately 650 attorneys across 12 offices in the United States and Asia. The firm originated when Walter T. Colquitt established a law practice in Atlanta, which later became known as Troutman Sanders following various mergers and name changes throughout the 20th century.
